Haskap, also known as Blue Honeysuckle, is a delightful berry that is hardy enough to flourish in all climates across Canada! It is often described as a stretched Blueberry, but it is so much more than that! Packed with flavor, Haskap has a thin skin, no seeds, and is extremely nutritious. It is simple to care for, and everyone can enjoy the health benefits of this Superfood; straight from their own garden!
This favor packed berry has only recently become popular in North America, but Haskap has ancient roots and is native to Japan, Russia, and even grows wild in places throughout Canada.
Haskap bushes mature at 4-5 feet in height, and will reach full production within 4 years.
There are dozens of Haskap varieties around the world, many of which have grown native for hundreds of years! We have access to and supply all public UofS Haskap varieties that have been selected to provide you with fruit that tastes -and looks- amazing!

Haskap is extremely durable and can withstand dramatic climates, making them the perfect berry for anyone to grow! Because of their bell-shaped flowers, Haskap are less likely to be affected by frost than other fruit are berries that are blooming at a similar time of year.
When you receive your bundle of plants, they are ready for the garden! Take them out of the box as soon as possible into sunlight, and water them right away! Once you are ready to plant, dig a 6 inch hole and space each plug 2-3 feet apart. Be sure to keep them well watered in the summer sunshine, but over the next few years they will need less and less care as their roots become more established.

You will want a minimum of 2 bushes in order to cross-pollinate. Cross Pollination will increase quality and quantity of your berries significantly!
A mature Haskap bush can produce 6-10 lbs of fruit
Plant a minimum of 3 feet apart, 3-6 inches below the root bundle.
Keep your new plants watered for the first 2-3 years as the roots establish. Depending on your location you may want or need to use a net system to protect the berries from birds and other wildlife .
Haskap will produce fruit within the first 3 years of growth, and is considered a mature bush at year 5.
Each variety has a slightly different flavor, but are often described as a combination of blueberry and raspberry, but without the seeds!
Haskap can be pruned in late winter/early spring.
